What it does

Hey Product Hunt! Honestly, I built Aora because I was fed up with expense apps that felt like they were stuck in 2012. Most of them are just too slow—you take a photo, wait for a "cloud upload," and hope it works. Plus, the idea of some random company having a database of everything I buy always sketched me out. What’s actually different here is that we moved all the AI onto your phone. Since the OCR happens on-device, it's insanely fast—no It also means your data stays on your device.

Does the same job

    Write It Down – Personal finance trackerOct 2025 · write-it-down.com · ▲271

Everyone’s chasing AI hype. I built a Google Sheet and it quietly took off. In 2020, I made it to track my own finances for income, expenses, savings, yearly summaries etc. I shared it once on Reddit, forgot about it for a year… When I checked back, it had over 130k views and I was honestly stoked! No launch. No funding. No AI. Just a spreadsheet people actually stick with and find useful. I finally gave it a proper home: write-it-down.com Now, more than 2,300 people use it. It’s intentionally boring and that’s why it works. People don’t always need AI. They just need something that actually…

API that falls back to humans when AI is unsureJan 2026 · sync-ai-11fj.vercel.app · ▲5

Hey HN, I’m the founder of SyncAI. Previously, I was building internal tools for a fintech startup. We tried using GPT-4 Vision and various OCR APIs to automate our Accounts Payable. They worked great for ~90% of documents. The problem was the other 10%: crumpled receipts, handwritten delivery notes, or invoices with weird layouts. In fintech, a 90% success rate isn’t automation; it’s a liability. We spent more time fixing the AI’s hallucinations than if we had just typed it manually. I realized that for high-stakes operations, we didn’t need "better AI"—we needed a Safety Layer. So I built…

ParsePoint – AI OCR that pipes any invoice straight into Excel2025 · parsepoint.app · ▲9

Hi HN, I run a small ecommerce shop and, until recently, spent way too many evenings copy-pasting supplier invoices into Excel so my books stayed clean and my expense tracking was granular. It finally hit me that I’d rather invest that time in code than in Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V, so I built ParsePoint.app. Why I built it • Manual invoice entry was swallowing 4 hours every month. • Accounting software APIs felt heavyweight for my use-case; I really just wanted clean rows in a spreadsheet. • I love tinkering with AI models and needed an excuse to spin one up in production. What it does 1. Upload a…

    Peek – an AI "Spotify wrapped" for your money2025 · apps.apple.com · ▲8

hey hn – mint is gone, the clones feel like bloatware, and afaict every “personal finance” app still assumes you love staring at pie charts for fun. i don’t. so i built peek. - ai-first: an ai agent does the number-crunching and pings you with bite-sized nudges instead of guilt-trips - habit loop > dashboard: get weekly “wrapped”-style digests that actually push you towards forming new positive habits, not just remind you you spent too much on coffee - mobile-only rn (ios) bc that’s where gen z actually lives link:…

    Astra – Automated savings and bank transfers2018 · ▲6

Hi Hacker News, Gil and Sam here, co-founders of Astra (https://astra.finance). Astra is mission control for your money and our new iOS app helps you achieve your personal savings goals — automatically. We built Astra because we were frustrated by the lack of smart tools out there to help manage our cash flow. Maintaining a complicated spreadsheet to manage our finances month to month and pay down debt as quickly as possible was a time-consuming headache. We built a web app last fall that mirrored a lot of the financial modeling we were doing manually but learned that our users…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
