ASOF

Track tech trends before they blow up. Time-travel data.

ASOF launched on January 28, 2026 with 3 votes, #5,632 of 14,584 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches.

What it does

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I built ASOF because I wanted to answer: "What was actually trending when X launched?" We scrape Hacker News, GitHub Trending, Reddit, and Product Hunt every 30 minutes. So far we have 1,400+ snapshots. You can: 📸 Browse any snapshot to see what was hot ⚖️ Compare two dates to see what changed 🔥 Track which topics are rising vs falling Free tier gives you 7 days. Pro unlocks the full archive. Still early - would love feedback on what would make this useful for you.

  • I measured the half-life of 41,301 Show HN launches. It's 7 hoursJul 2026 · jonno.nz · ▲37

I scraped every Show HN from the last 12 months (41,301 posts) plus the full comment tree of every launch with 10+ comments, ~100k comment timestamps, all from the Algolia HN API. The median launch gets 2 points and 0 comments. For launches that do get traction, half the comments they'll ever get arrive within 7.2 hours and 90% within 26, and the top decile decays on the same clock as everyone else. Vote timestamps aren't public, so comment timing is the attention proxy; caveats are in the post. Everything reproduces from the repo with one command…

Here's the problem: I launched two products. I wrote blog posts. I posted on X, built in public. I tried running ads. And you know what actually got me customers? Replying to someone on Reddit who asked, "What's the best tool for this?" One reply. Three signups. I felt like an idiot for not doing it sooner. But here's the issue: I don't have time to refresh Reddit all day looking for these posts. I have products to build. Bugs to fix. Emails to answer. Life to live. So I built Overlead to do the searching for me. Overlead scans Reddit, Quora, and Hacker News (and many more to come) for…

I've launched on Product Hunt, Beta List, Peer push and similar platforms but the problem is they only show top 5 on on first page view you have to click "see more" and scroll to see the next 10 products, also total products are up to 100+ especially product hunt, usually people don't scroll that deep if your product is above top 20 you're much likely invisible and buried down the list, On top of that, paid Ads occupies 30 - 40% of the screen, what about the small startups and solo makers who just getting started and wants to get their first users and don't have budget to advertise? It's…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
