Beat Your Last

Workout tracker for lifters who don't follow programs

What it does

I built BYL because every workout app I tried (Strong, Hevy, Fitbod) assumed I was following a program. I'm not. I walk into the gym and decide what to lift based on how I feel that day. So I built the opposite. BYL logs whatever you do, then surfaces the proof your random Tuesday sessions are still building strength. Per-exercise PRs, "beat your last" prescriptions, insights — without telling you what to do. Free Pro access for the beta period. Happy to answer anything in the thread.

I've been working on a side project called Streak.ly with a friend of mine for the past month or so; it's intended to help keep you motivated to do otherwise mundane daily tasks (like do 10 pushups, read for an hour, etc.) by letting you log "streaks" — consecutive days in a row of doing something. It's in private alpha/beta/gamma/whatever right now (has some rough edges to clean up), but is more or less functionally complete and pretty stable. I'm a big fan of the Seinfeld calendar, and have seen other services which do similar things but were unsatisfying to use, either from an aesthetic…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
