Blackbar
Destroy secrets in screenshots - Mac & Linux & Windows
What it does
Report screenshots are full of client secrets — internal IPs, hostnames, creds, tokens, hashes — that can't ship in a deliverable, so you black them out by hand, one by one, hoping you didn't miss one. Blackbar finds them automatically and destructively burns them out (opaque bar into a fresh bitmap, metadata stripped — not a blur you can undo), keeps the same value labeled the same across every screenshot, and runs 100% offline. macOS; Windows; Linux, $19 once.
Capture or paste a screenshot and Blackbar burns out the secrets — IPs, hostnames, API keys, JWTs. Destructive, not a blur. macOS, Windows, Linux. $19.
Your report screenshots are full of client secrets you'd otherwise black out by hand. Capture a region — or paste one in — and Blackbar finds every secret and burns it out in a single pass. $ ssh admin@ dc01.acme.corp [HOST-1] → 10.10.14.7 [IP-1] key= AKIA3F22UMOR0EXAMPLE [AWSKEY-1] jwt= eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9 [JWT-1] FIG. 01½ THE PROBLEM § 00 THE REPORT You finished the engagement. Now the report. Every screenshot is evidence you have to include — the scan, the secretsdump, the admin panel. And every one is packed with things that can't leave the building: internal IPs, hostnames, credentials, tokens, NTLM hashes, employee emails. So you black them out by hand, one screenshot at a time,…from getblackbar.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
