These books are for readers, just starting out. These books are fun to read, simple, short, and easy. They are meant specifically for very young readers, ages 4 - 6. These books are for kids who are just getting introduced to chapter books, and these books aren't advanced, just a great book for beginner readers. A great example of this is Charlotte's Web or Land of Stories. These books are for kids who can now read chapter books, and can be introduced to more advanced books and series such as the Chronicles of Narnia, or Artemis Fowl. These books are for children who can now read competently, and are able to read more advanced books and series, like Lord of the Rings or Gordan Korman books.…from bookvine.io

I wanted to share a project that I've been working on designed to help young kids go from reading single words to reading whole books. My husband and I started spending a lot of time teaching our 5-year-old (Alex) to read because our school district is exclusively doing remote learning and I was skeptical that he could learn to read over Zoom. We used flashcards (which Alex found boring) and then combined them into sentences (which Alex found interesting). But the sentence approach requires a lot of arranging pieces of paper and remembering which words you are working on. So I developed…

Hi HN! I made many small web games in the past with Unity or Phaser. But this time I wanted to make something completely on my own. So I coded a basic game framework in plain JavaScript, and used it to make Almost Pong. This was a really fun project that taught me a lot about JavaScript, and I plan to make more minimalist games with this framework. Interesting fact: Almost Pong doesn't load any assets, all sprites and sounds are generated with code. Happy to answer questions, and please let me know if you have any feedback on the game. Thanks!
