C-TURTL, a turtle graphics game
Happy New Year! Here's a small turtle graphics game I made for my kids, that I want to share. You write the "DNA" of the turtle, and watch what happens. Any comments or suggestions appreciated!

In plain words
C-TURTL is a turtle graphics game where players write DNA code to control a turtle's behavior and watch it draw patterns. The game is designed for children and anyone interested in creative coding through visual feedback. Players input instructions that determine how the turtle moves and creates drawings, making it an educational tool for learning programming concepts in an interactive, game-like format.

The turtle dies at the end of the DNA. Baby turtles start over at the beginning of the DNA. I'm not much of an artist, so the turtles look like this: ■ This was inspired by Isabel Beach's L-systems and Turtle Graphics and Susam Pal's CFRS[] . Source and examples on GitHubfrom michae2.github.io

Hello HN! Back in 2023, I introduced CFRS[], a minimalist drawing language with turtle graphics, featuring just six simple commands, through a "Show HN" post (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37956065). Since then, I've received a number of creative patterns and animations created using this tiny, esoteric language by the small and friendly community that has since formed around it. In this post, I intend to share some of these interesting creations with everyone to highlight the ingenuity of their creators. If you create an interesting demo using this language, please…
I made a little digital circuit simulator that operates on PNGs2022 · github.com · ▲259This is a little toy project of mine that lets you simulate digital logic graphs. It was inspired by Minecraft's Redstone and the Piet esolang. It's got some serious drawbacks-- you write circuits as PNGs and simulate them with a Python interface. It's slow to run and slow to experiment with. And it is certainly difficult to use for people with any kind of color blindness. But despite that, I hope this can still be a fun toy!

I have been working on this game somewhat sparsely for the past three years or so. However, it is still in a very early stage, and there is a lot of work to do. One of my friends encouraged me to post about it here, since he felt people might find interesting how I don’t use any libraries for it. The game can be played on a browser by virtue of WebAssembly. There are native ports using either MiniFB or SDL2, but you have to build those yourself. I decided to write the game in C because I feel like it is a simple language that a lot of people can understand well enough, and I didn’t think I…

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
