Cookieless Conversion Attribution with Pathview
Morning HN. I worked on a cloud CMS and then pivoted an analytics feature to a standalone SaaS. Pathview focuses on the conversion path rather than general analytics. I want to help users optimize conversions. It doesn’t use cookies, contains 160-characters of JavaScript, and leverages HTTP Messaging for a modern take on an old-school analytics approach. I’m close to launching a public beta test and could use a sanity check. Any advice, feedback, or questions for this first-time developer? -sb
Cookieless Conversion Attribution with Pathview launched on August 16, 2022 with 17 votes, #879 of 3,307 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 4 years on.
In plain words
Pathview is a conversion attribution tool that tracks customer journeys without using cookies. It integrates with a minimal 160-character JavaScript snippet and uses HTTP Messaging to monitor the paths users take toward conversion. Designed for businesses seeking to optimize their conversion rates, it offers a privacy-friendly alternative to traditional cookie-based analytics while focusing specifically on conversion pathways rather than general site analytics.

- IMI made a stupid simple but 100% free web analytics2024 · indielytics.link · ▲29
TLDR: I made a public only web analytics without signup. Stores views and visitors for 10 days before deleting data. Exactly 25 days ago today I posted here, proud of my new web analytics. The response was mixed and my post even got flagged (understandable). It was my first real launch and I actually made a sale just a day later of 49$(!). Back then my project was pay once, keep forever. Since then I have sadly went over to the dark side (subscription based). Anyways, I never went back to look at the post after the first two hours, turns out I got a lot of answers. Most answers was something…
- ITIt took me 5() months to build a Plausible alternative2024 · ▲44
After months of using Google Analytics I realized only about 50% of people accepted my cookie-popup. I had months of incorrect data for my website. I started looking for alternatives and eventually found Plausible, which is great (and open-source). Problem is, I didn't feel like paying 9$ a month to see the amount of visitors on a website i didn't even earn anything on, it was just a hobby project. Eventually I started making my own web analytics. Which actually isn't that hard. It took me about a month of working on my spare time every now and then. Being GDPR compliant basically means to…

A fast, privacy-first image converter that runs in browserOct 2025 · imageconverter.dev · ▲48Hey HN I built ImageConverter.dev because I got tired of “free” image converter sites that force uploads, or throttle conversions. So I made a tool that runs 100% client-side — meaning your images never leave your device. It’s built for speed, simplicity, and privacy. What it does Convert images between JPG, PNG, WebP Works offline once loaded (PWA support) How it works It uses the Canvas API and WebAssembly to handle conversions directly in the browser. There’s no upload, no tracking, no server costs, and it’s fast even on mid-range devices. Why I built it I wanted an instant, no-ads,…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Hey HN, I've been working on https://pornpen.ai, a site for generating adult images. Please only visit the site if you are 18+ and willing to look at NSFW images. This site is an experiment using newer text-to-image models. I explicitly removed the ability to specify custom text to avoid harmful imagery from being generated. New tags will be added once the prompt-engineering algorithm is fine-tuned further. If the servers are overloaded, take a look at the feed and search pages to look through past results.
