In plain words

Wasmer enables developers to build native desktop applications using WebAssembly technology. The tool compiles WebAssembly code into standalone desktop programs that run directly on Windows, macOS, and Linux without requiring a browser. It's designed for developers who want to leverage web technologies and existing WebAssembly modules to create cross-platform desktop software while maintaining performance and security benefits of compiled binaries.

In the first article in this series we demonstrated how you can create standalone executable files from WebAssembly WASI files that will work in any operating system; which means we can create a python.exe (or python.out ) from a python package, without depending on any WebAssembly Runtime at all (see the Python package on WAPM )! This was great and very well adopted by the community, but we were missing one big part of the picture: how can we use this new feature to improve the life of developers? TL;DR: Using the wasmer compiler we compile all WASI packages published to WAPM to a native executable for all available platforms, so that you don't need to ship a complete WASM runtime to run…from wasmer.io

Hi everyone, I built a runtime to isolate untrusted code using wasm sandboxes. Basically, it protects your host system from problems that untrusted code can cause. We’ve had a great discussion about sandboxing in Python lately that elaborates a bit more on the problem [1]. In TypeScript, wasm integration is even more natural thanks to the close proximity between both ecosystems. The core is built in Rust. On top of that, I use WASI 0.2 via wasmtime and the component model, along with custom SDKs that keep things as idiomatic as possible. For example, in Python we have a simple decorator:…

Hi HN! I’m Syrus, from the Wasmer team. We just released the new version of WAPM that is an order of magnitude better than the previous one (that we also announced here in HN two years ago! The tech stack that we are using includes: * Python and Django (for the backend) with Graphene (for the open GraphQL API [1]) and Django Channels with websockets over GraphQL [2] for subscriptions * Next.js [3] with React-Relay [4] and Tailwind.css [5] for the frontend * WebAssembly and Wasmer [6] (for the online shell)…

Hey HN, I've been working on https://pornpen.ai, a site for generating adult images. Please only visit the site if you are 18+ and willing to look at NSFW images. This site is an experiment using newer text-to-image models. I explicitly removed the ability to specify custom text to avoid harmful imagery from being generated. New tags will be added once the prompt-engineering algorithm is fine-tuned further. If the servers are overloaded, take a look at the feed and search pages to look through past results.
