didtheywinornot.com Single Purpose Scores Site

I built didtheywinornot.com this week in my spare hours before work. Currently it only does baseball scores, but as new seasons start in the fall, I think I'll expand it to other sports. Would love some feedback and any ideas as to how to make it better, keeping in mind that this is meant to be single purpose and not at all bloated. Did I miss a stat that people really care about? Is the amount of information good enough?

Weekend project, shows when the next season of your TV show premieres2021 · ▲127

I treated myself to a solo hackathon this weekend and built https://next-season-of.com. The data is scrapped from IMDB and the website is generated using the hugo template engine. There's still a lot of optimization to be done but I'm planning to use this as a learning ground to try and get my pages to rank in Google. It would be really cool to search "next season of Ozark" and see a link to next-season-of.com.

Had That Beer - Many many weekends project2011 · ▲10

It is a simple beer checklist site where you can keep track of the beers you have had and what you thought of them. I started this site around September of last year as I wasn't satisfied with any of the beer rating sites available for keeping track of what I have had. It is still a little rough around the edges and is a continual work in progress, as I am the only one working on it. But please check it out and send on any feedback. Sports betting between friends2014 · nospronos.com · ▲21

With my friends we wanted to have a nice friendly competition (no money involved) about the football worldcup by predicting the results. I though this might interest other groups of friends so I coded a website just for that in 3 days. Nothing ground breaking but I like the suscription system "Doodle" style with just links, no personal infos... Tell me what you think !

Please review my new side project [www.Schmeebs.com]2010 · ▲8

www.schmeebs.com I built this site in two days. I tried to make it a fusion of Twitter + Digg in that people will be able to follow certain "domains" of news then be able to see popular stuff from there. Its as real time as it can be at this point. Would welcome any thoughts on it!

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

Dear Hackers and founders, I am working on a startup which aims to make customer development easier, faster and perhaps lazier. We all know how important it is to talk to customers, GainGeek (http://gaingeek.com) makes this process easier. My hope is that this app will resonate with all those following Eric Ries's Lean startup and Steve Blank's customer development strategy. I thought it would be a great idea to submit my idea to the eyes of the most critical crowd I know. Please let me know what you think. Cheers, Edo. PS: Some will note that this app could be intrusive. My bet is that the…

Hey guys, I just flicked the switch on http://hnrecap.com and thought I would make a tiny announcement! The site was created for a simple reason: There is a big rotation of articles on the front page of Hacker News every day, and unless you are on here 24/7, you are bound to miss some great content and discussions. I was tired of this and the rss feed doesn't cut it for me since it doesn't preserve ranking information over time. On HN Recap, rankings are somewhat preserved: Every 2 minutes, I request the HN front page, update articles and attribute points in the following simple fashion: #1…

http://web2expo.heroku.com/ I had the opportunity to attend the Web 2.0 Expo earlier this week. While at the event, I was inspired to build out a prototype for a problem I saw with the Twitter stream. The problem is that hash tags are fleeting; Twitter focuses on live results, and we lose track of tweets over time. This was especially true during the Lean Startup Intensive. #leanstartup was great when it was live on Monday, with the results consisting of live tweets of each presenter. However, if we search for the hash tag now, we get a mess of content not specifically tied to that event.…
