Products that do what didtheywinornot.com Single Purpose Scores Site does
I built didtheywinornot.com this week in my spare hours before work. Currently it only does baseball scores, but as new seasons start in the fall, I think I'll expand it to other sports. Would love some feedback and any ideas as to how to make it better, keeping in mind that this is meant to be single purpose and not at all bloated. Did I miss a stat that people really care about? Is the amount of information good enough?

I treated myself to a solo hackathon this weekend and built https://next-season-of.com. The data is scrapped from IMDB and the website is generated using the hugo template engine. There's still a lot of optimization to be done but I'm planning to use this as a learning ground to try and get my pages to rank in Google. It would be really cool to search "next season of Ozark" and see a link to next-season-of.com.

It is a simple beer checklist site where you can keep track of the beers you have had and what you thought of them. I started this site around September of last year as I wasn't satisfied with any of the beer rating sites available for keeping track of what I have had. It is still a little rough around the edges and is a continual work in progress, as I am the only one working on it. But please check it out and send on any feedback. With my friends we wanted to have a nice friendly competition (no money involved) about the football worldcup by predicting the results. I though this might interest other groups of friends so I coded a website just for that in 3 days. Nothing ground breaking but I like the suscription system "Doodle" style with just links, no personal infos... Tell me what you think !

www.schmeebs.com I built this site in two days. I tried to make it a fusion of Twitter + Digg in that people will be able to follow certain "domains" of news then be able to see popular stuff from there. Its as real time as it can be at this point. Would welcome any thoughts on it!

Inspired by the following post by photon_off... http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1683309 I made karmurl last night. It's a simple app where you submit a URL for feedback, then for every piece of feedback you give to someone else's, you get to read one piece of feedback for yours. http://karmurl.com

I don't normally do this but after submitting this through the usual mechanism and having it quickly vanish off the New list, I figured it was worth a shot. * I do not have any affiliation with this site * These guys need and deserve our support. The work they are doing is pretty outstanding, the amount of quality content is incredible. The site itself is well designed, clean and top-notch. The content is truly outstanding. They are also doing it right, IMO - aka no ads at all - and entirely donation driven. Hence this post... check them out, and hopefully toss them a dollar if you find it…

Hey HN! I built this over the weekend. It is basically an extremely rudimentary crowd sourced recommendation system for anything in any city. I know that I could easily look this information up on Yelp but I thought it might be nicer to simply look up something like "the best steak in new york" and get that information. The database is almost empty but if you look up the "best coffee in ann arbor" you'll get a result which I seeded. Go ahead and contribute what you can. Ill be adding CAPTCHAs soon to prevent spammers. Here is the link: http://www.krowd.me

Hi, I spent the last couple of months developing OurClubFundraiser(http://www.ourclubfundraiser.com) and launched it about two weeks ago.I would love to get some feedback from the HN community on how I could improve the site and tweak the concept. Since launching I have found that: 1) I am not getting enough visits(Average around 5 a day) 2) Any of the visits I do get are not converting. I am working on 1) and will hopefully be able to dramatically increase the number of visits over the next few weeks. I could really do with some third party perspectives on point 2. 1)Is the concept not…

I was lucky enough to have my site trending on Friday (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25872922). It’s an icon site that lists open source icons. I wanted to share some stats on the results after 3 days. Worth noting was that I submitted it on a Friday morning (at which point I went for a walk and a coffee; eek). - 24,997 page views. I (embarrassingly) didn’t have GA set up when I first submitted it, so this is probably missing a few hundred page views - 21 “feedback” emails (half of which were spam). I assume such a high percentage of these were spam because my Feedback…

Hello HN! I've been working on http://underthesite.com for the last month and now think it is ready for some full strength HN feedback. What do you guys think? It crawls up to 10 pages of a given site while you wait, looking for community-provided CSS / XPath selectors and regular expressions. Additionally, I'd like to appeal to you to submit matchers for technologies that you care about. Technologies are easy to add, so add your favorite jQuery plugins, analytics tools, client-side node.js wrappers, what have you. I'm going to be running a large crawl in the next few days and want to make…

I often don't have time to watch games that interest me, so I built a site that lets you step through each play at your own pace. You get to see the game unfold without the 'spoiler' that occurs when you're constantly shown the live status. It's pretty fun - even if it's no replacement for watching the real thing! Main link: http://www.replayray.com/ A link to Thursday's NFL season opener: http://replayray.com/app/game.py?type=nfl&id=2017090700 NOTE: Most of the week 1 games on the front page aren't clickable until they start tomorrow. The season opener,…

I had an idea for this concept for a while and decided to build a little website around it. It's kind of a silly idea but I'm really curious to see how it plays out. If you're a particularly curious person, be warned. By submitting a payment to the game, you get to see how many other people were curious enough to play. You will be ranked based on your payment amount, and get to discover some interesting insights about the game's dynamics. Hope you like it

Hi there! I have been a huge fan of pinballs for a few months, discovering all pinballs that are in my city, and I converted quite a few friends to it. The only problem was that we wanted to keep an eye on everyone's score and I always did it in some notes on my phone. This was not very practical. I decided to create a small website so that all my friends can add their scores while we're playing in a gig. The app is minimalistic on purpose: no user authentication, no call to any fancy Pinball API whatsoever. I just need a list of players, gigs, pinballs and scores. The app is built with…

https://ilovethatshirt.com I want to hear some feedback on why we might not be getting the conversions expected. We launched using a WordPress setup just to limit our risk on development (e.g. produce an MVP), so I would hope that is not the feedback (but if it is, so be it). Please be brutal as normal :) If we suck, we need to hear it. Thanks!

I built a website for games that catch my eye or have something interesting going on. I made it for fun but then updating became a habit. Maybe you'll find your next "must-play" game here? GitHub repo: https://github.com/RaycatWhoDat/games-list

Hi HN! In the last couple of weeks I've been working on Cranki: Cranki = Crosswords + Anki. (It's a stupid name tbh, haha) I like doing crosswords in Spanish (to learn vocab) but none of the apps out there allowed me to use my own list of words that I come across. So I built one instead. It's entirely client-side. No server, no database, no accounts, etc. Your words and stats are stored in local storage. I built this for myself but let me know if you like it!

Hi guys, long time lurker, first time (non-comment) submission. I've been working on homebrewvault.com (mostly nights) for what seems like forever. I'm just about finished with the core product and am almost ready to do some promotion. I've always followed the "Show HN" submissions because they seem to produce really valuable feedback. So before I take the plunge, I'd love to hear what you guys think. I'm also going with the "if you aren't embarrassed by your first release, you aren't releasing early enough" philosophy I first learned of here. For a little more background: As a homebrewer of…

http://pitchremix.com About a month ago, I launched this site. I got a ton of great feedback and updated the service. Some things I've changed: - Site is much simpler and has less text to read - I've gotten a few testimonials - We now work with you to make the pitch. So there's a lot of back and forth. All feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm trying to get the motivation up to actually finish building out a "real" product, and I found myself needing a "win" to keep my momentum up. So, I hacked out a little one sentence journal app last night. I experimented with a few UI things (e.g.., the autosaving of the sentence for today and so on), so it was a good learning experience also. You can check it out at: http://osod.im

Inspired by Hacker News Daily, I created a similar website for reddit. You can definitely see the inspiration as I borrowed heavily from the design of hn-daily. justthetops.com saves the top 10 posts of the day for various subreddits. It is handy for not missing the most popular posts of the day when you are too busy to browse. It has really cut down on the time I spend on reddit since I can now catch up over my morning coffee. Feedback is welcome and appreciated.
