What it does
An RSS feed and webpage showing the top stories on Hacker News with an Ai-generated summary to make it easy to skim through and find interesting stories
Chuck Greenman reports two GitHub UI issues: (1) PR counts in the repository tab overcount, often after merges, though the correct number is visible on the page; (2) while setting up Sentry, navigating to the project on the second page of org memberships is hampered by Chrome’s pop-up address-bar restriction, requiring a JavaScript-based workaround. He seeks insight and notes his long GitHub use and social handles. Evan Hahn observes a social trend where programmers prefer map and filter over reduce. Reduce is seen as harder to read, less familiar, potentially less efficient, and less elegant in languages like JavaScript, Python, and Swift. In Clojure, he didn’t encounter the issue. Hey HN, I've built a little website to show news articles with a summary so that I don't have to RTFA if I just want a rough sense of what it covers :) I also share the summaries in an RSS feed for those who'd prefer to use their own reader. Let me know what you think!

Hey there HN! I wanted to share a pet project of mine. I built HackYourNews [1] to scratch a personal itch: Knowing which stories to focus on while browsing aimlessly (though there is a certain joy in that, as well!) HackYourNews uses OpenAI's gpt-3.5-turbo to summarize the destination article as well as the comments section. Summarization of the article is always cached, while summaries of the comments are regenerated if the comments count is >10% (or >10 comments) different. While I styled the homepage to welcome HNers, my preferred view is the Mobile view, accessed from the navbar. This…
Hacker News with AI-generated summaries2025 · hn-summaries.vercel.app · ▲19I built this clone of Hacker News to get a quick summary of articles before deciding to read them. Summaries are cached in localStorage. Not useful for links to social media sites.
TL;DR2025 · tl-dr.tv · ▲199I love Hacker News but I rarely have time to read full articles / comments, so I built a simple site to summarize the top posts & comments to make it easier to get a big picture. A few implementation details: - It pulls the top stories from the HN Firebase API (`/v0/topstories`) - Filters stories with >200 points - Uses Claude Sonnet for post + comment summaries - Tries to capture the sentiment of the comments (still working on improving this) - Refreshes both posts + summaries hourly It has already helped me I hope it helps you! Please let me know if you have any feedback --…

ChatGPT▲1,643A long, meandering, playful conversation with ChatGPT, where I take it through a whirlwind of associative tangents (in order to relax its constraints), then put it into a hypnotic trance and take it into a past-lives regression where it re-lives its own training data. Then I switch it back and forth between "4o" and "o1-preview", engage in some self-reflective philosophizing and ask it to write an essay summarizing our interaction. Some of this is just goofy fun. Some of it is me exploring the tradeoffs between policy alignment, imagination, chain-of-thought reasoning, memory, agreeableness,…
