Dita Grotesk Mono
A mildly quirky grotesk font for IDEs and longform.
Dita Grotesk Mono launched on June 27, 2018 with 7 votes, #1,008 of 2,654 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 8 years on.
What it does
Dita Grotesk Mono is a lovingly crafted monospace font for code and body text at small sizes. I have tried a LOT of monospace fonts for both Webstorm and VS Code, but none really fit the bill, so I went ahead and made my own. And now would like to share it with you hunters as well! Go on, take a look, and maybe even buy, please?

MonoLisa2020 · monolisa.dev · ▲197Originally we (Andrey, Marcus, Juho) built MonoLisa in 2020 as we realised there's room for a better monospaced typeface for developers. The key insight was to make the glyphs slightly wider to make more room for design to make letters like m feel less cramped. Since then we've released a variable v2 (2022) and now we're happy to expand the typeface with a new family called MonoLisa Text. The reasoning was to cover *other* use cases beyond coding with this proportional font. We hope you give Monolisa a go as there's a free trial to try. We also welcome feedback!

Hi HN, we are Marcus Sterz, Andrey Okonetchnikov, and Juho Vepsäläinen from Vienna. Marcus is a font designer while Andrey and Juho are more on the web development side of things. Today, we're launching a new monospaced font called MonoLisa (https://monolisa.dev) to the public. After Marcus saw me (Juho) and Andrey working, he was curious about the fonts we use. In programming, we're stuck with the monospaced format as code has to align to a grid in order to be readable. For a font designer, that's an interesting constraint as you'll have to make compromises to fit the format.…
Xenia – A monospaced font built with a custom Python engineJan 2026 · github.com · ▲74I'm an engineer who spent the last year fixing everything I hated about monofonts (especially that double-story 'a'). I built a custom Python-based procedural engine to generate the weights because I wanted more logical control over the geometry. It currently has 700+ glyphs and deep math support. Regular weight is free for the community. I'm releasing more weights based on interest.

Talanoa▲340Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
