Draft Diff & Revision Checker

See exactly what changed between two drafts

What it does

Redline diffs two drafts word by word — not line by line — so it catches changes mid-sentence the way prose actually gets edited. Inline or side-by-side view, plus a similarity score. One file, works offline, nothing uploaded.

Line-by-line diffs were built for code, where every change lives on its own line. Prose doesn't work that way — most edits happen mid-sentence, and a line diff either misses them or just marks the whole line as "changed," which tells you nothing useful.Redline diffs word by word instead: Word-level precision — see exactly which words were added, removed, or replaced, even mid-sentence Two view mod

We're building version control software for Microsoft Office documents that works as well as Git and GitHub do for code. Today, we’re releasing the first component, Draftable for Word, an Office add-in that lets you generate side-by-side diffs, and makes it way less painful to work with Track Changes. Our diffs are designed to look right to humans — instead of machines — showing changes as they might actually have been made by an editor. We'd love to hear your feedback. We’d also love to fix what you find painful about authoring and collaborating on Microsoft Office documents, so get in…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
