ESP32 RC Cars

This is a projected I started that blends both the fun of playing a split screen multiplayer driving game and controlling real rc cars. The cars can also be controlled via bluetooth gamepads and is meant to be easily hackable.

In plain words

ESP32 RC Cars is a project that combines split-screen multiplayer racing game mechanics with real remote-controlled cars. Players control physical RC vehicles using Bluetooth gamepads while viewing live feedback on a shared screen, creating a hybrid gaming and robotics experience. The project is designed to be easily customizable and hackable, making it accessible for enthusiasts interested in modifying and experimenting with the system.

This project demonstrates an ESP32-based remote-controlled camera system capable of transmitting live video streams over WebSockets and controlling motors and servos. A Python server application manages WebSocket communication and provides a web interface to view and control the ESP32 devices. I took the 3-pin jst adapter off the servo that came with the car chassis and moved them into a 4-pin jst plug to plug into the esp32. I then spliced the postive and negative leads on the servo and added a 3-pin female jst plug using a crimping tool. Finally, i connected the (white) esc control wire to the 4-pin jst plug and 3-pin female plug. It looks likefrom github.com

Wanted to share a project I've been working on. Basically lets you drive an RC car remotely over the internet with live FPV video. I'm arranging outdoor time attack tournaments with friends, somewhere in woods or in the open field. The setup: - Raspberry Pi Zero 2W mounted on the car with a wide-angle camera - ESP32 on the transmitter generating joystick voltages (needed because ARRMA's 2-in-1 ESC/receiver has no accessible inputs) - Cloudflare for the networking magic (TURN, Tunnel, Workers) - Browser-based controls - works on phone or desktop What it does: - ~100-200ms control latency…

  • I wrote a small lib to turn a USB gamepad into a Bluetooth oneDec 2025 · github.com · ▲26

I had two old USB gamepads lying around that I wanted to use, but my computer is too far from the couch, so I wrote a little ESP32-S3 firmware that turns USB gamepads into Bluetooth ones. You connect your gamepad to the ESP32-S3 with an OTG cable, power the ESP32 with either 5V somehow or a powered USB hub, and now you can pair the controller via Bluetooth to your PC!

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…

  • i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
