Why Create This? • Features • Screenshots Installation • Usage • Contributing ExpenseOwl is an extremely simple self-hosted expense tracking system with a modern monthly pie-chart visualization and cashflow showcase. There are a ton of amazing projects for expense tracking across GitHub ( Actual , Firefly III , etc.). They're all incredible! I just don't find them fast and simple . They offer too many features I never use (like accounts or complex budgeting). Don't get me wrong! They're amazing when complexity is needed, but I wanted something dead simple that gives me a quick monthly look at my expenses. NOTHING else! So, I created this project and I use it in my home lab for expenses. The…from github.com

I made a super simple iOS app to track expenses2023 · apps.apple.com · ▲55My Expenses is a very simple app to track expenses for one-time budgets. Let's say you're going on vacations in Italy and you want to allocate $1.500 to this trip. You create a budget "Italy" in 30 seconds and you're ready to go. Each time you make an expense in Italy, you add it to the app in a few seconds and you instantly know you're remaining budget. I'm bored of super complex apps. Yes, they do a lot of things, but it often takes a while to get used to the app and understand all its features. That's why I created this app. I want people to be able to track their expenses in seconds, as…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…
