In plain words
VoiceLine is a Chrome extension that lets users record, share, and play voice notes within browser-based applications. It converts voice messages into hybrid audio-text snippets using speech-to-text technology, creating what the maker calls VoiceLine recordings. The tool integrates directly into web apps like Jira, GitHub, and Notion rather than functioning as a standalone messenger. It targets professionals who collaborate primarily in browsers and want asynchronous voice communication embedded in their existing workflow tools.

VoiceLine has built a chrome extension that allows you to record, share, and play voice notes within any browser-based application. We’re using an STT model to transcribe your notes into what we call a VoiceLine, a hybrid audio-text snippet, to address the problems of conventional voice messaging. Since we’ve been in closed beta as a seed-stage startup, here’s a direct link to get access: https://app.getvoiceline.com/6b29fbc80d Our vision is to introduce a new category of professional voice communication by building our service as a layer, not yet another instant messenger like Slack or MS teams. Since the majority of collaboration happens in the browser, our first MVP has been built for google chrome. We envision this to work in collaboration tools like Jira, GitHub, G Suite, Notion, … you name it. For us, feedback right now is most valuable: Where would you like to use this? What kind of features do you miss or would you expect? How would you build the Chrome Extension going forward?

I've seen some interests in (simulation) video games here on HN so I thought I'd share a short version of our story. More than 6 years ago, me and my friend from university were playing around with an idea of making a game we always wanted to play. We worked on it on weekends but the progress was quite slow, especially due to so many dead ends and wasted effort. Eventually however, we solidified our direction and decided to take the risk to resign from our well paid SWE jobs and work on it full time. It took more than a year but yesterday we have finally released it on Steam:…
