FIRE Calculator HUB

Plan your financial freedom

What it does

I built Virtusage to make retirement and investment planning much easier for everyday people. Most financial calculators online feel outdated, cluttered, or overly complicated. I wanted to create something modern, fast, and genuinely pleasant to use. Virtusage combines FIRE calculators, compound interest tools, retirement projections, and investment growth planning into one clean platform. The goal is simple: Help people better understand long-term wealth growth and financial independence.

    I quit coding years ago. AI brought me backJan 2026 · calquio.com · ▲314

Quick background: I used to code. Studied it in school, wrote some projects, but eventually convinced myself I wasn't cut out for it. Too slow, too many bugs, imposter syndrome — the usual story. So I pivoted, ended up as an investment associate at an early-stage angel fund, and haven't written real code in years. Fast forward to now. I'm a Buffett nerd — big believer in compound interest as a mental model for life. I run compound interest calculations constantly. Not because I need to, but because watching numbers grow over 30-40 years keeps me patient when markets get wild. It's basically…

A FIRE calculator that verifies or determines your retirement numberFeb 2026 · retirenumber.com · ▲5

Most retirement calculators either oversimplify things or ask you to link your accounts so they can make money off your data. I wanted something that actually helped me see if I was on track without handing over a bank login, so I built RetireNumber. It's a privacy-first retirement planner. You type in your own numbers. No account linking, no selling your data, no VC. Just me and a subscription. The engine does real math: Monte Carlo with 1,000 runs, historical backtesting to 1928 using Shiller's Yale data, tax-aware withdrawal strategies, and scenario comparison so you can try different…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
