A complete retirement planner covering accounts, taxes, pensions, withdrawals, and life events, stress-tested against thousands of simulations drawn from over a century of real market history. Start with a free quick check, no sign-up required.

In plain words

Foresightplanner is a retirement planning tool that models financial scenarios using 125 years of historical market data from 25 countries. It covers accounts, taxes, pensions, withdrawals, and life events, stress-testing plans against thousands of simulations rather than average assumptions. The tool is designed for individuals planning retirement and offers a free quick check without requiring signup. Users can explore how their plans perform across different historical market conditions.

From the sources

Most financial tools make you guess one return, then project a smooth line forward. Real markets aren't that smooth, and that number hides the risk. Foresight Planner replays your whole plan (saving, taxes, pensions, life events, drawdown) across thousands of real market histories, with crashes and recoveries in the order they happened. You see how often it holds up, not one rosy guess. It also uses global data, not just the US. Free, no sign-up. Canadian tax, CPP, and OAS built in.

A complete retirement planner that stress-tests your whole plan against a century of real market history, not a statistical average. These are projections, not financial advice. Past results don't guarantee futurefrom foresightplanner.com

    I spent 2 years building a personal finance simulator2023 · projectionlab.com · ▲766

Hey everyone! After another year of building as a solo dev on nights and weekends, I'm back with an update on this post: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31083093. TL;DR - ProjectionLab (https://projectionlab.com) is a privacy-friendly personal finance planning tool where you can create financial plans that go beyond the standard online retirement calculators. And by popular request, it now supports self-hosting for Lifetime users! Something I'm grateful for is that our community here on HN is the difference between PL existing and not. There was actually a time…

  • Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
