Flake schemas enable you to teach Nix about new flake output types.

In plain words
Flake schemas is a tool that helps developers document and validate the outputs of Nix flakes. It allows flake creators to define what their flakes produce and enables consumers to understand flake contents at a glance. The tool is designed for Nix users working with flakes who need clearer organization and verification of their project outputs.

Flakes are a generic way to package Nix artifacts. Flake output attributes are arbitrary Nix values, so they can be packages , NixOS modules , CI jobs , and so on. While there are a number of “well-known” flake output types that are recognized by tools like the nix CLI — nix develop , for example, operates on the devShells output—nothing prevents you from defining your own flake output types. Unfortunately, such “non-standard” flake output types have a big problem: tools like nix flake show and nix flake check don’t know anything about them, so they can’t display or check anything about those outputs. The nixpkgs flake, for instance, has a lib output that Nix knows nothing about: This was a…from determinate.systems

MyNixOS – Create and share Nix and NixOS configurations2022 · mynixos.com · ▲200Hello HN! I want to show you MyNixOS.com - a website I've been working on this year to make it easy to create and share Nix and NixOS configurations. Nix is a powerful tool to deploy software in a reproducible way, and with NixOS you can control your whole operating system through a declarative configuration. Starting out with Nix was exciting, but it definitely had a challenging learning curve. This made me start building a website focused on making it easier to create and share Nix flakes, which are the core unit of software deployment in Nix. Using the website, you can create flakes…

Outlines is a Python library that focuses on text generation with large language models. Brandon and I are not LLM experts and started the project a few months ago because we wanted to understand better how the generation process works. Our original background is probabilistic, relational and symbolic programming. Recently we came up with a fast way to generate text that matches a regex (https://blog.normalcomputing.ai/posts/2023-07-27-regex-guide...). The basic idea is simple: regular expressions have an equivalent Deterministic-Finite Automaton (DFA) representation. We…
