Free Client-side Reverse Geocoding API

What it does

The Free Client-side Reverse Geocoding API is designed to reverse-geocode the current user's coordinates (if consent is given) or provide an estimation of locality information based on the client's IP address.

Free client-side Reverse Geocode to City API from BigDataCloud. Convert current GPS or IP fallback into accurate locality data with a consistent JSON schema. No API key required, Fair Use Policy applies, and it’s free to help improve IP geolocation accuracy.

The free client-side Reverse Geocode to City API converts a user's current latitude and longitude into structured locality data — country, state, city, suburb, and postcode — directly from the browser. If coordinates aren't available (for example, the user declines the location permission), the same endpoint can be called without coordinates and will return a best-effort locality via IP geolocation instead. Both flows return the same JSON schema, so your integration doesn't need to handle two different response formats. This endpoint is client-side only, free to use, and requires no API key.   I've recently been working with real-time geoJSON data at a rate of 50+ queries per second. SaaS solutions can be prohibitively expensive at this rate, thus, I created go-reverse-geo. Data is pulled from geonames.org and is stored in MongoDB (a requirement of my current project). It is very much a work-in-progress (I wrote it this morning).
