In plain words

This project helps Factorio players create mods using TypeScript instead of Lua. It provides tooling and documentation to get developers started with mod creation for the factory-building game Factorio. The resource is designed for those interested in modding who prefer TypeScript's syntax and type system. It launched in January 2021 and offers a bridge between web development skills and Factorio's modding ecosystem.

Of course we want type safety when programming Factorio mods. Unfortunately, Factorio's Lua modding API offers no such provisions. Good news! factorio-type-kit helps bridge that gap via TypeScript. While TypeScript doesn't offer the strongest safety guarantees of any language under the sun, it does offer moderate safety, and works well as a Lua replacement. The following steps are required to author factorio mods in TS: It is assumed that the reader has installed node & yarn before proceeding further. For demonstration purposes, I will create a mod called vroom . This mod will make the character accelerate as he runs, allowing the player to travel at warp speed! This step automatically…from cdaringe.github.io

Hi HN, we’re Sam, Shane, and Abhi, and we’re building Mastra (https://mastra.ai), an open-source JavaScript SDK for building agents on top of Vercel’s AI SDK. You can start a Mastra project with `npm create mastra` and create workflow graphs that can suspend/resume, build a RAG pipeline and write evals, give agents memory, create multi-agent workflows, and view it all in a local playground. Previously, we built Gatsby, the open-source React web framework. Later, we worked on an AI-powered CRM but it felt like we were having to roll all the AI bits (agentic workflows, evals,…

  • An opinionated and statically-typed TypeScript SDK generator2022 · easysdk.xyz · ▲81

Hi Hacker News! My name is Sagar, I’m working on a startup called Speakeasy - we’re making all APIs self-service. The platform is currently in beta, but we’re independently launching this tool which you can use to generate language-idiomatic, statically-typed TS SDKs from any public OpenAPI schemas. We hope to continue iterating on this to give devs a way to easily generate high fidelity client SDKs for all the major languages. Inspiration for this product is from past experiences struggling with OpenAPI. I was originally optimistic about using the OpenAPI tools to build out our offering,…

  • I made a CLI tool to create web extensions with no build configuration2024 · github.com · ▲381

Hello HN! I'm the creator and solo developer of Extension.js, a development tool for browser extensions with built-in support for TypeScript, WebAssembly, React, and modern JavaScript. Developers use it to spend less time configuring the compilation config or learning new frameworks and more time actually writing code. Most projects similar to Extension.js rely on some sort of abstraction or configuration to get started, making the initial development process slow given the extra learning curve and setup guidelines. By using Extension.js, adding the package to your npm scripts is all it…

Hello HN! The day has finally come to stop adding features and start sharing what I've been building the last 5-6 months. It's a bit of CrewAI, OpenDevon, LangFuse/Cloud all in one, providing devs who prefer TypeScript an integrated framework thats provides a lot out of the box to start experimenting and building agents with. It started after peeking at the LangChain docs a few times and never liking the example code. I began experimenting with automating a simple Jira request from the engineering team to add an index to one of our Google Spanner databases (for context I'm the…

I’ve been testing a simple idea inspired by Apple/Cloudflare/Anthropic: LLMs are far better at writing a small program than coordinating multiple tool calls. So instead of giving the model 10+ tools, I exposed one: a TypeScript sandbox with access to the same interfaces. The model writes a script → it runs once → done. What changed - +68% reduction in token use - No multi-step drift or retries - Local models (Llama 3.1 8B / Phi-3) became much more reliable Repo: https://github.com/universal-tool-calling-protocol/code-mode Curious whether others have seen…

  • Crust – A CLI framework for TypeScript and BunMar 2026 · github.com · ▲95

We've been building Crust (https://crustjs.com/), a TypeScript-first, Bun-native CLI framework with zero dependencies. It's been powering our core product internally for a while, and we're now open-sourcing it. The problem we kept running into: existing CLI frameworks in the JS ecosystem are either minimal arg parsers where you wire everything yourself, or heavyweight frameworks with large dependency trees and Node-era assumptions. We wanted something in between. What Crust does differently: - Full type inference from definitions — args and flags are inferred automatically. No…
