What it does
I built a minimal Mac menu bar app for local AI voice drafting into Obsidian and other apps. It runs completely on-device because I wanted something fast, private, and frictionless for capturing notes without cloud transcription or lots of settings. Big differences with other apps is that you do not need to manually specify you are writing an email, or something. Minimalistic, zero friction with your current setup. You just ask! Great for professionals, e.g. doctors and lawyers!

Hi guys. I have been working on Hitoku Draft, an open-source, voice-first AI assistant that runs entirely locally. I posted about it already, and now it has also transcription with voice editing. Looking for feedback, as I found that outside tech circles other people still do not use this tech much. It's context-aware, in the sense that it reads your screen, documents, and active app to understand what you're working on. This lets you talk to local LLMs in Apple Notes. I saw Obsidian Ollama (https://github.com/hinterdupfinger/obsidian-ollama) and thought it was handy, but I'm too lazy to migrate away from the Apple ecosystem, so I quickly hacked this together. I tend to use Notes as a scratchpad for prompts, so it's nice to do some quick inference without leaving the app. Notes doesn't really support plugins so I'm using the macOS accessibility API for reading selections and then stream responses using the clipboard (not ideal but it works).
