I brought the benefits of LaTeX to non technical users

In plain words

Monsterwriter is a writing application that makes LaTeX accessible to people without technical expertise. Launched in 2022, it brings professional document formatting capabilities to non-technical users through a simplified interface. The tool is designed for anyone who wants to create polished documents without learning complex coding or markup languages. It bridges the gap between LaTeX's powerful typesetting features and ease of use for everyday writers.

    MonsterWriter – Write a thesis, post, or organize notes2024 · ▲94

Hello HN, in 2017 I started a project that would become MonsterWriter. First envisioned as a semi-structured wiki it became a writing application specialized for scientific content. It is a perfect tool if you write your thesis. While it is focused on technical content, you can still see the knowledge management spirit in it. One or two years ago, my wife joined me in my efforts and redesigned the whole project and we recently released it as MonsterWriter2. To celebrate this milestone we are giving away free lifetime licenses for the Desktop version (till Apr 28). Just use the promo code…

During the hype of llama.ttf months ago, I was speculating the potential of WASM shaper for even crazier purpose, one that fitter to a font shaper's duty -- to synthesize font at runtime. This project as proof-of-concept implements a synthesizer that generates and rasterizes handwriting-style font, backed by a super-lightweight RNN model (~14MiB).

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…
