Maine winters are cold, especially in a box surrounded by air. My father, twin brother, and I started building a Treehouse when I was ten. You can imagine how much I helped at that age. However, the finished product is very nice: an 8x8-foot room with a wood stove and another room for sleeping above. The only real issue is heating it in the winter. When you add wood and go back inside somewhere warm, knowing when to go out is challenging. I recently built a temperature monitor to solve this problem. It's a Raspberry Pi 1b in a cigar box with two DS18B20 temperature probes coming from drilled-in holes.
