I built a tool to create polls on Bluesky

Hey everyone. I’ve been missing polls on Bluesky for a while and got curious about how to make it work. So, I put together a little tool called blueskypolls.xyz as a workaround that lets you create polls for your posts. It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done! Here’s how it works: • You can create polls with multiple options • You can also create polls as a reply to a post • It even supports custom emojis if you want to make things a bit more fun • You can also setup a poll end date • You can see results of each of your polls with some beautiful graphs One thing to note: the tool requires…

In plain words

Blueskypolls.xyz is a tool that enables Bluesky users to create polls since the platform doesn't natively support them. Users can set up polls with multiple options, custom emojis, and end dates, then view results displayed in graphs. Polls can be posted independently or as replies. The tool requires an app password for access, which is managed separately from the main account password for security purposes.

I’ve been messing around with Bluesky for a while, and one thing I really missed was a proper way to browse discussions in a structured, Reddit-like way specially myself being daily reddit user. So, I ended up building a Reddit-like client for Bluesky that scratches that itch: Threadsky.app It pulls in trending topics, lets you explore conversations with a threaded view (so no more getting lost in replies), and even allows users to create channels with customizations, basically, like subreddits but on Bluesky. That said, this is still pretty barebones, and there’s a lot to improve. I really…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…
