I built a tool to try artworks on your own wall

Simply upload a photo of your wall, upload the artwork images, position them, and download the result. It's very lightweight and nothing is uploaded to a server - everything runs directly in your browser. Why I made this: Existing apps (like Artrooms) fell short for me because they only offered stock wall images and limited 3D positioning, especially if your wall isn't perfectly frontal. I wanted something more flexible that would allow me to experiment with more scenarios, even when the photo is taken at a weird angle. The objective is to get a feel of how'd it look like, without the result…

In plain words

This tool lets users visualize artwork on their own walls by uploading a photo and positioning artwork images on it, then downloading the result. It runs entirely in the browser with no server uploads, making it lightweight and private. Built with Three.js, it handles non-frontal wall angles better than existing alternatives, letting users experiment with different placements and scenarios. It's designed for casual visualization rather than photorealistic rendering.

In the maker’s words, at launch

Simply upload a photo of your wall, upload the artwork images, position them, and download the result. It's very lightweight and nothing is uploaded to a server - everything runs directly in your browser. Why I made this: Existing apps (like Artrooms) fell short for me because they only offered stock wall images and limited 3D positioning, especially if your wall isn't perfectly frontal. I wanted something more flexible that would allow me to experiment with more scenarios, even when the photo is taken at a weird angle. The objective is to get a feel of how'd it look like, without the result being super realistic. Details: - Built with Three.js. - It's a static site hosted on Cloudflare. - Uploaded images are stored in IndexedDB. - Some effects, like shadows and blending, work intermittently. Sometimes they really work, and sometimes they fail horribly. - I've included a few galleries from classic artists and default wall images so you can test it out right away. - I tried to make the UI as intuitive as possible, but that was surprisingly hard - especially in mobile where the space is limited. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated :-)

    I completed shipping my desktop app2025 · pimosa.app · ▲526

Hi, I'm a developer and first time i shipped the real product after observing the startups and indie hackers community for years. I had made so many useless apps [you should check my website https://ansh.life], but this time I built a very useful product that has a number of super easy-to-use tools in one app for video, music, and photo files. Users can compress, convert, resize, and do so much more with easy-to-use tools. Background: I developed a frame-by-frame video cropper to upload cropped landscape videos to Instagram Reels. However, it required FFmpeg, and as a noob video…

Hey there HN! We’re Joe and Stopa, and today we’re open sourcing InstantDB, a client-side database that makes it easy to build real-time and collaborative apps like Notion and Figma. Building modern apps these days involves a lot of schleps. For a basic CRUD app you need to spin up servers, wire up endpoints, integrate auth, add permissions, and then marshal data from the backend to the frontend and back again. If you want to deliver a buttery smooth user experience, you’ll need to add optimistic updates and rollbacks. We do these steps over and over for every feature we build, which can…
