In plain words
I Built Istanbul Live Transit Map is a web application that displays real-time public transportation information for Istanbul. It shows the current location and status of buses, trams, metros, and ferries across the city's transit network. The tool is designed for Istanbul residents and visitors who need accurate, up-to-date transit information to navigate the city efficiently. The live mapping feature allows users to track vehicles as they move through their routes.

I built a transit travel time map2023 · map.henryn.xyz · ▲255This was something I built while trying to look for housing in Toronto that was decently transit-accessible to my office while still cheap. The backend is written in Rust. It parses public GTFS data from transit agencies and performs a simple heuristics-based BFS on the bus lines to calculate how long to reach all points in a city. The frontend uses React and Mapbox GL to render each individual road segment based on how long it takes to reach. This project was a great excuse to learn Rust, deployments, and mapping. The source code is here if you are interested:…

Over the past week I built a project to let people self-host an entire maps stack so they don't have to send data to the big G. Right now it includes a base map, geocoder and directions server. Currently only bicycle directions are supported, and I'm only hosting tiles for Seattle because I'm unemployed and can't afford to host data for the whole planet. Check it out! https://maps.ellenhp.me/ https://github.com/ellenhp/headway Ultimately I'd like to really focus on transit routing (not implemented) but I'll probably throw a driving mode in there too.
Tasmap2020 · tasmap.app · ▲111Hi there, I just saw a cool city map project (https://github.com/originalankur/maptoposter) gaining some attention on Hacker News. I'm building a similar product so I want to share it with you. If you're interested in beautiful maps, maybe give Tasmap a try. It's not just a static, beautiful map; it's dynamic and interactive, and connected with articles. There are 20+ well designed themes, and if you're not good at design, you can even have AI design it for you. You can embed it in your site or install it as an app on your phone. You can create a beautiful and useful map.…

I have created a single map that lets you easily browse all bus, tram, metro, ferry and train routes. I’ve loaded some data from Europe, Israel and India. It's called BuzMap: Here is an update, there is a previous outline linked at the bottom State of the BuzMap - http://buz-map.com I have done significant work over the last 3 months to get BuzMap further towards a usable product and at least prove the scalability of the architecture and I hope a glimpse of where we can go with this.. I have what I think is a viable user interaction model. Upon touching or hovering over a section…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
