I built this Postgres logger

Hey HN, Some of you were really interested in Postgres logging with pgAudit in my previous post here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37082827 So I built this logger: https://rocketgraph.io/logger-demo using pgAudit to show you what can be done with Postgres auditing. It offers some powerful features like "get me all the CREATE queries that ran in the past hour". These are generated by AWS RDS Instance running on my Rocketgraph account. Then they are forwarded to Cloudwatch for complex querying. In the future we can connect these logs to slack so you can…

In plain words

A Postgres logger built using pgAudit that captures and analyzes database queries from AWS RDS instances. It forwards logs to CloudWatch for complex querying, allowing users to search for specific query types like all CREATE statements from the past hour. Designed for developers and database administrators who need detailed audit trails of Postgres activity, with planned integrations for Slack alerts on critical database operations.

In the maker’s words, at launch

Hey HN, Some of you were really interested in Postgres logging with pgAudit in my previous post here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37082827 So I built this logger: https://rocketgraph.io/logger-demo using pgAudit to show you what can be done with Postgres auditing. It offers some powerful features like "get me all the CREATE queries that ran in the past hour". These are generated by AWS RDS Instance running on my Rocketgraph account. Then they are forwarded to Cloudwatch for complex querying. In the future we can connect these logs to slack so you can get slack alerts when a developer accidentally DROPs a table. If you like my work, please check it out here: https://github.com/RocketsGraphQL/rgraph And if you want this logging on your own Postgres instance. Use https://rocketgraph.io/ And setup a project. pgAudit is automatically installed.

  • Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…

Outlines is a Python library that focuses on text generation with large language models. Brandon and I are not LLM experts and started the project a few months ago because we wanted to understand better how the generation process works. Our original background is probabilistic, relational and symbolic programming. Recently we came up with a fast way to generate text that matches a regex (https://blog.normalcomputing.ai/posts/2023-07-27-regex-guide...). The basic idea is simple: regular expressions have an equivalent Deterministic-Finite Automaton (DFA) representation. We…
