I figured out how to get consistent UI from Claude Code

The answer is simple: the more "prescriptive" you are with instructions for Claude, the worse your output. The reason is that Claude tries to pattern match - it's been trained on thousands of safe UI patterns, which is why when you ask for "a modern dashboard" it doesn't really think about the problem space; it just defaults to whatever safe design pattern it can whip up at the time. I've been working on a Claude Code skill to combat generic UI output, and I tried different approaches like being very detailed with my personal visual style, e.g., the type of alpha values to use for borders,…

In plain words

This Claude Code skill helps developers generate consistent and distinctive user interfaces by using a less-prescriptive approach to prompting. Rather than providing detailed style specifications, the tool guides users to describe their design problems and goals, allowing Claude to apply thoughtful reasoning instead of defaulting to generic patterns. It is designed for developers and designers working with Claude Code who want varied, purposeful UI output tailored to their specific needs.

Stop redeciding the same design choices every conversation

Claude forgets your design decisions between conversations. This plugin remembers them and applies them consistently. Then run /plugin menu to install. Restart Claude Codefrom interface-design.dev

Hey HN, we're building Design Rails. It's a chat-based brand builder. You describe your project, iterate with an AI designer, and walk away with a logo, color palette, typography, and style guide - all formatted as specs you can drop into your project for Claude Code, Cursor or whatever you're coding with. Free tier gets you a full logo (PNG) and basic palette. Paid tier ($49 one-time) - everything you need for your next project - full coding-agent ready specs, SVG logos, icon variants, etc. Built with Next.js, Vercel AI SDK, and Inngest for the async generation jobs. Would love to hear your…

  • Stop Claude Code from forgetting everythingDec 2025 · github.com · ▲202

I got tired of Claude Code forgetting all my context every time I open a new session: set-up decisions, how I like my margins, decision history. etc. We built a shared memory layer you can drop in as a Claude Code Skill. It’s basically a tiny memory DB with recall that remembers your sessions. Not magic. Not AGI. Just state. Install in Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add https://github.com/mutable-state-inc/ensue-skill /plugin install ensue-memory # restart Claude Code What it does: (1) persists context between sessions (2) semantic & temportal search (not just…

  • Nori CLI, a better interface for Claude Code (no flicker)Jan 2026 · github.com · ▲37

Hi HN, my name's Clifford and I'm one of the creators of Nori. I’ve been using Claude Code heavily since last summer, and after understanding some of the tradeoffs with their TUI implementation, I knew I couldn't see myself living for years with this interface as one of my daily-driver tools. It is not a hard problem to make monospace text output performant, so why does Claude Code suffer from flicker and strobing in the terminal (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/1913)? Even after they've released multiple improvements for this, I still see the…

  • I built a Claude AI chat interface to bypass platform limits2024 · github.com · ▲39

I got frustrated with Claude's official platform limitations - conversations disappearing, no customization options, and clunky file handling. So I built my own interface over a weekend! GitHub: https://github.com/chihebnabil/claude-ui What it does: - Saves all conversations locally (SQLite + Drizzle ORM) - Lets you customize Claude's personality per chat - Handles file attachments properly + caching input tokens - Dark/light mode - No conversation limits - Markdown & code syntax highlighting Tech stack is pretty simple: - Nuxt 3 for the frontend - Anthropic's SDK…

How well do you use Claude Code?Jul 2026 · ▲21

A bunch of companies that I spoke to had their own claude & codex OTel dashboards that showed spend + seats per month. However, none of the dashboards actually analyzed how the engineers worked with the tools and if there were any areas for improvement! That's why I created https://www.promptster.ai. Managers get aggregate level view of code quality and how that ties with team workflows (nothing on a per-engineer level). While engineers get personalized coaching on how they can save tokens while keeping output high. We also have a tool built for individuals to test their local…

  • I made Claude Code listen before it codes (MIT)Apr 2026 · github.com · ▲5

heylo! open sourcing a plugin that I've been daily driving for a month. And I promise, I can't go back to vanilla Claude Code. I'm a heavy Claude Code user, and a couple of things kept bugging me. Claude really likes to jump into code. And its responses are too long. I'd skim past walls of text just to find the recommendation. Plan mode helps, but it didn't go deep enough. The questions it asked were still implementation questions, when what I actually needed was alignment on the problem. So I made it stop. Relay is a different output style and two Python hooks. When you describe what you…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
