I made an Animal Crossing style letter editor

I made a simple open-source letter editor inspired by Animal Crossing NH. Took me forever to look over each card, but I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. You can even click the bottle in the bottom right to see a random letter design shared by other users! Now to see how long it stays up... Check out the source code here: https://github.com/IdreesInc/Animal-Crossing-Letter-Generato...

In plain words

This is an open-source letter editor modeled after Animal Crossing: New Horizons' stationery system. Users can design custom letters with various card designs and share them with others. The tool includes a feature to view random letter designs created by the community by clicking a bottle icon. It's designed for players who want to create and explore decorative letters inspired by the game's aesthetic.

    Handwritten Christmas Card for Hacker News2024 · handwritten-card.vercel.app · ▲66

Hi HN, I’ve been working on a small project that transforms handwritten notes into animated, shareable cards. While the create functionality isn’t live yet, I wanted to share a sneak peek by creating a handwritten Christmas card specifically for the HN community. I started thinking about this after seeing too many AI-generated cards, cookie-cutter email templates, and overly polished designs that lack any personal touch. A friend recently sent me a handwritten card in the mail, and I found it nice that he took his time to write a handwritten note. I wanted to capture that same feeling…

I have always been curious about how the fancy text styles on social media work. After researching Unicode characters, I started developing my own tool to convert simple text into fancy styles. Although I have created other similar tools, I believe this one is my best work. Similar tools exist, but they’re usually packed with annoying ads and pop-ups, have clunky interfaces, offer limited styles, and don’t make it clear that these fonts are for casual use, and not for situations where accessibility is a concern. I’ve tried to fix all these issues, and I’d love to hear your feedback!

I made a new daily word game for web and iOS which is a funky mix of scrabble and boggle. Each day everyone gets the same randomly generated configuration of bonus tiles and letters on a grid. The app is written completely in SwiftUI and the web port is written in ts/react. Both use the same random seeds each day.

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Kitten TTS is an open-source series of tiny and expressive text-to-speech models for on-device applications. We are excited to launch a preview of our smallest model, which is less than 25 MB. This model has 15M parameters. This release supports English text-to-speech applications in eight voices: four male and four female. The model is quantized to int8 + fp16, and it uses onnx for runtime. The model is designed to run literally anywhere eg. raspberry pi, low-end smartphones, wearables, browsers etc. No GPU required! We're releasing this to give early users a sense of the latency and voices…
