I made Spotify Wrapped but for WhatsApp chats, made it's open source

Hey HN, I am an indie hacker and I am launching my second product. Spotify Wrapped seems like a cool concept, so I imagined what Wrapped would look like for whatsapp. Privacy was a major concern for exporting plain text so I decided to not store ANY DATA by not having DB in the first place and open source the project. Hope you have fun making your Wraps xD anshulagx

I made Spotify Wrapped but for WhatsApp chats, made it's open source launched on November 30, 2023 with 10 votes, #1,426 of 4,332 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 2 years on.

In plain words

This tool creates a Spotify Wrapped-style summary of WhatsApp conversations. Users can analyze their chat patterns and statistics in an engaging format. The creator prioritized privacy by designing the application to store no data—there is no database involved—and made the entire project open source so users can verify how their information is handled and run it locally.

I always loved seeing my Spotify Wrapped every year and wondered why doesn’t ChatGPT have something similar? So I built GPTRecap: paste your exported file and instantly see your top topics, total messages, and more. All core features run 100% in your browser, no account, no data stored. Premium insights (like deeper topic analysis) are processed via OpenAI, but nothing is saved on our servers. Would love feedback! What stats would you want to see next?

Hi, HN! I built ZapZipped, a fun way to analyze your WhatsApp group chats at the end of the year, inspired by Spotify Wrapped. Get stats and archetypes awarded to different chatters: Stats like like most active day, most used words, emoji usage, and Awards like ‘The Ghost’, 'The MVP', and ‘The Podcaster’. No data storage: Everything is processed on your device, and no data is saved Check it out here and let me know what you think: zapzipped.com

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Hi HN, I’m Kashish, one of the co-founders of SpeedVitals, a platform for testing & monitoring website performance with a major emphasis on Core Web Vitals. Until now, our platform has only focused on Synthetic/Lab testing, such as Lighthouse tests and TTFB tests. But now, we have developed a Real-User Monitoring platform that doubles up as a Web Analytics tool. One major feature we have that most RUM tools lack is Performance Audits. Just like Lighthouse audits work on Lab test data, our audits work across all the real-user visits and gives suggestions on what task to prioritize first.…
