Idiom or Idiot? — The Oracle of Meaning

OS annotation layer+eval harness for Indian language idioms

What it does

A multilingual LLM evaluation playground: five interpreters attempt to uncover the meaning hidden inside Indian idioms.

We consult five divine interpreters to uncover the truest meaning of an idiom. They begin with only the words themselves. When an interpreter needs help, reveal a clue — each clue costs one Gold Nugget. The interpreter that reaches the intended meaning with the least assistance earns the Divine Seal . New idioms start Under Review — three community “correct” votes promote it to Verified. You can still test the oracle on it right away. Choose an idiom from the right, or enter your own on the left, to begin afrom idiom-or-idiot-production.up.railway.app

Learning Project: building an imperative language2020 · ▲36

Hi! I am doing a learning project, attempting to build an imperative language (and interpreter). The end product will be useless for others, I just want to learn and better understand how to build imperative languages. :) If someone else shares this interest and want to give some good hints on good resources I would be grateful. Currently I am looking at an awesome text by Bob Nystrom. All suggestions and tips on resources are most welcome. I am very much a beginner in this, but I find this topic very fascinating. Mail me or post links here! Cheers! You can try a beta version Online at…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
