Infinite horizontal arrays of text editors
I made this app to write books chapter by chapter, while taking & browsing through temporary notes for each chapter. The leftmost sidebar is the list of chapters. The sidebar to the right of that is the list of editors in the current chapter. The UI & UX are a bit weird, but they have a basic logic to them.

In plain words
Infinite Horizontal Arrays of Text Editors is a writing application designed for authors working on books chapter by chapter. It organizes work through a multi-sidebar interface: the leftmost sidebar displays chapter lists, while an adjacent sidebar shows multiple text editors for the current chapter. Users can simultaneously write and reference temporary notes within each chapter. The application is built around a logical but unconventional interface structure.

Hi HN, Since 2019, I’ve been working on a writing platform designed for creating complex documents (e.g., theses). I personally use it for everything as it also allows to classify documents in categories so you can organize them efficiently. As of a few months ago, the app is also available in the browser, and you can now invite coworkers to collaborate on a document in real time. The app is somewhat inspired by LyX. It offers an intuitive, modern editor, but users don’t need to know any LaTeX. When it’s time to export, they can choose from a range of templates (IEEE paper, thesis, etc.). A…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…

i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
