Introducing Comfygure, a Configuration Manager for Easy Deployments

Store and deploy settings across development, test, and production environments, using an encrypted key-value store.

Introducing Comfygure, a Configuration Manager for Easy Deployments launched on November 7, 2017 with 5 votes and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 8 years on.

What it does

TL;DR: We’ve just published Comfygure, a tool facilitating the sharing of configuration settings between developers and / or environments. Comfygure assumes that you deploy artefacts that require settings to run in various environment. Comfygure solves the problem of managing, storing, and deploying these settings. It features end-to-end encryption, configuration versioning (git-like), and supports multiple formats (JSON, YML, environment variables). Now in beta, it’s available on GitHub marmelab/comfygure . Give it a try! Asciinema might track you and we would rather have your consent before loading this. As a developer, I usually work on several projects at the same time. Last month, we open-sourced Infisical (https://github.com/Infisical/infisical) - a simple, end-to-end encrypted tool to sync environment variables across your team and infrastructure. You can use it to store environment variables and inject them into your applications locally or into CI/CD and production infrastructure. It can be used with any language/framework and is platform independent with a super easy setup. We know secret managers exist but, in our experience, they’re too complicated, not comprehensive, not user-friendly, or a mix of all three — other…

Over the past couple of months, we’ve spoken with dozens of software companies to understand their challenges with on-prem deployments. We analyzed the internal tools they’ve built and the best practices from existing solutions, combining them into a prebuilt, Open Source solution that…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
