Joystick – Modern Remote Config; Instantly Update Games and More
Hey HN, we've been working on Joystick, a remote configuration management platform designed to take the pain out of managing many configs across multiple environments. We're especially suited for mobile game live-ops, but also have early users from food-tech, edu-tech and gen AI. Our goal is to enable better decoupling of configuration from the app code / repos so config updates can rolled out quickly, and products can be more agile. It started as something simple, and took on a life of its own. We do dog-food it for our own projects as well. Check our docs for full feature list. Having…

Hey HN, we've been working on Joystick, a remote configuration management platform designed to take the pain out of managing many configs across multiple environments. It started as something simple, and took on a life of its own. We do dog-food it for our own projects as well. Check our docs for full feature list. Having a lot of remote configs may not be for everyone, but we wanted to build a tool that embraces this. Love any feedback, questions and suggestions!

A few months ago (82 days to be exact!) I posted a link on HN to my game, Meatshields. A bunch of you commented and played my game and gave me some wonderful feedback. Over the last few months I've been playing with many of you and implementing the best of everybody's suggestions. So, thank you, HN for all your help! I feel this is an extreme overhaul I couldn't have done without your input. Since then, I have: Dramatically improved our hosting platform (So it HOPEFULLY won't go down this time (oops.)), Added two new units, Rebalanced all existing units, Added many more maps, Improved the…

Hello HN! The day has finally come to stop adding features and start sharing what I've been building the last 5-6 months. It's a bit of CrewAI, OpenDevon, LangFuse/Cloud all in one, providing devs who prefer TypeScript an integrated framework thats provides a lot out of the box to start experimenting and building agents with. It started after peeking at the LangChain docs a few times and never liking the example code. I began experimenting with automating a simple Jira request from the engineering team to add an index to one of our Google Spanner databases (for context I'm the…

Hello HN. This is a project me and some friends built at university in 2017. It was originally built in a rush, but we've added a few improvements over the years. It's a fun game to host at a demoparty and project on a big screen - We did that at Instanssi many times. The implementation is still rough, and suffers from the fast pace of the modern web - The frontend is likely very outdated, and the backend is built with Vapor 2 and Swift 3.1, both no longer supported. You can host this yourself, but it might be a bit of a pain to set up. The WebSocket protocol is fairly trivial to work out…

http://joysti.cc/ We built JoystiCC at the Techcrunch Disrupt Hackathon over the past 24 hours. It is an open source game platform that uses human beings as the pieces in the game. You can see a video of our real-life Frogger game in action at our website http://joysti.cc/ What do you all think, how could you see this being used?

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…
