An interactive dashboard to explore NYC rentals data
historically, rentals in NYC have been pretty wild. the median 1BR in West Village as of July 2025 cost $5,750/month. about a month ago, NYC passed a law to ban broker fees which many predicted would have increased rents. I realized I had access to some original data from a previous project so I built a dashboard to help me visualize the changes and see for myself. you can filter by neighborhoods, bedrooms, original source where the rentals were posted, and select a timeframe. this is still a work in progress, so apologies in advance for any issues you encounter. In plain words
This interactive dashboard allows users to explore New York City rental pricing data following the recent broker fee ban. Users can filter listings by neighborhood, number of bedrooms, rental source, and date range to track how rents have changed over time. The tool pulls from original rental data and provides visualizations to help renters understand market trends across different areas of the city.

I would love any feedback on how to improve it and/or what other visualizations i should add. known issues include: - some neighborhoods like Prospect Park will also automatically select other, unrelated, neighborhoods when selected - sometimes even when you filter by 1BR it will also include some 2BR - some units might have been listed on multiple platforms, effectively counting as duplicates

I created https://www.howmuchrent.com last Friday to help bring this kind of transparency to Ireland, allowing people to submit their rents. Would love to get any HN feedback on the idea/website.

Today marks ten years, 3653 consecutive days, of running at least one mile every day under the USRSA rules [1]. To celebrate, I built an interactive dashboard that turns a decade of GPX files into charts you can explore. Running has truly changed my life: I've made lifelong friends, explored beautiful places, and more importantly invested into my own health and fitness, which I'm starting to see the positive benefits as I get older. The stack is pretty simple: a NextJS app, with a Postgres database to keep all my running data, and all the stats are pre-computed and cached in Redis, so I…

Made this website as an exercise in vibe-coding and GCP. It was posted about a few times around the internet, on sites like Morning Brew (https://www.morningbrew.com/issues/business-buzzkill), MetaFilter (https://www.metafilter.com/209703/Draw-A-Fish), boingboing.net, etc. I think it's cute! I built a basic CNN trained against penises and swastikas, and then anything that doesn't hit the 63% confidence score gets sent to a mod queue, a vibe-coded fish-tinder…
