Mapping the Unix Magic Poster – An Interactive Annotation Project
Hi HN, We've discussed the Unix Magic poster before (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27029196). Like many of you, I love this poster and all the Unix references hidden in it. I built this as a static site that lets us annotate the Unix Magic poster by placing markers on references and adding descriptions to explain them. I've added a few so far, but there's much more to document. What I love about this approach is that contributions happen not just on the site itself but also through PRs, where we can discuss and refine the details of each reference. Feel free to send a…
In plain words
Mapping the Unix Magic Poster is an interactive annotation project that lets users explore and document Unix references hidden in the Unix Magic poster. Contributors can place markers on specific elements and add explanatory descriptions directly on the site or through pull requests on GitHub. The project is a collaborative effort to comprehensively catalog and explain the poster's technical and cultural references, making it accessible to both newcomers and Unix enthusiasts.

i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
