mcp-golang – Build custom tools for LLMs in go

Anthropic released the Model Context Protocol a couple weeks ago - https://www.anthropic.com/news/model-context-protocol. What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

Anthropic released the Model Context Protocol a couple weeks ago - https://www.anthropic.com/news/model-context-protocol. They have official sdks for python and typescript but nothing for go, so I wrote one! The main goal is to provide a low boilerplate sdk to write MCP servers, you can spin up a server which can give an LLM access to weather forecasts like this: https://github.com/metoro-io/mcp-golang/blob/main/examples/g... . Using it here: https://youtu.be/xaMkMl_R-0A The library handles generating all the MCP endpoints and input schemas for the model by introspecting the types of the structs + annotations for the handlers. I'm currently working on filling out the rest of the optional server features in the protocol and hope to move on to a client implementation soon. If any folks find this interesting, help is always appreciated!

An MCP server that gives LLMs temporal awareness and time calculation2025 · github.com · ▲91

This is an open‑source Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives any LLM a sense of the passage of time. Most MCP demos wire LLMs to external data stores. That’s useful, but MCP is also a chance to give models perception — extra senses beyond the prompt text. Six functions (`current_datetime`, `time_difference`, `timestamp_context`, etc.) give Claude/GPT real temporal awareness: It can spot pauses, reason about rhythms, and even label a chat’s “three‑act structure”. Runs locally in <60 s (Python) or via a hosted demo. If time works, what else could we surface? - Location /…

    FastMCP – A Pythonic way to build Model Context Protocol servers2024 · github.com · ▲6

Hi HN -- Since Anthropic announced the Model Context Protocol (MCP) last week [1], I've been excited about giving Claude new capabilities through my custom servers. But while MCP is powerful, implementing the protocol correctly requires a lot of low-level boilerplate code. I found myself wanting something like FastAPI - a high-level framework that would let me focus on building features, not servers. After some hacking, I'm sharing FastMCP: a Pythonic framework for building MCP servers. FastMCP uses decorators to transform normal functions into MCP tools, resources, templates, and prompts,…

Simple to build MCP servers that easily connect with custom LLM calls2025 · mirascope.com · ▲57

Hi! After learning about MCP, I'm really excited about the future of provider-agnostic, re-usable tooling. Unfortunately I've found that while it's easy to implement an MCP server for use with tools that support it (such as Claude Desktop), it's not as easy to implement your own support (such as integrating an MCP server into your own LLM application). We implemented a thin MCP wrapper that easily integrates with Mirascope calls so that you can hook up an MCP server and client super easily to any supported LLM provider. Excited to see what people build with this!

    I built an MCP server using Cloudflare's code mode patternSep 2025 · github.com · ▲87

Read this article by Cloudflare this morning https://blog.cloudflare.com/code-mode/ the main argument being that LLMs are much better at writing typescript code than tool calls because they've seen typescript code many more times. HN Discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45399204 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45386248 Deno provides a great sandbox environment for Typescript code execution because of its permissions system which made it easy to spin up code that only has access to fetch and network calls. Stick an MCP proxy…

    Any-LLM – Lightweight router to access any LLM Provider2025 · github.com · ▲125

We built any-llm because we needed a lightweight router for LLM providers with minimal overhead. Switching between models is just a string change : update "openai/gpt-4" to "anthropic/claude-3" and you're done. It uses official provider SDKs when available, which helps since providers handle their own compatibility updates. No proxy or gateway service needed either, so getting started is pretty straightforward - just pip install and import. Currently supports 20+ providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, and AWS Bedrock. Would love to hear what you think!

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…
