Mini Loops

One habit at a time, with no streaks to break

What it does

Mini Loops holds one habit until it is steady. You set the habit, the moment in your day it follows, and a version small enough for a bad day. Two taps a day to answer it. There is no streak, no score and nothing that counts. When something keeps getting in the way, the app says what it noticed and suggests a change to the plan — you accept it or you decline it. Everything stays on your phone. No account, no sign-in, no server.

Mini Loops builds one daily habit at a time on iPhone. No streaks and no scores: you name the habit and the moment it follows, then answer ten seconds a day.

A loop is one day: your moment, the habit, and ten seconds saying how it went. Small enough to close on a bad day. The day, and the one thing in it. Closing the loop: two taps. What's changed, described rather than scored. One habit, not a list You set up one habit and the moment it follows. Nothing else competes with it, and the next one waits until this one is steady. Every habit gets a small version you can do when the day falls apart. It keeps the repetition going, and the repetition is what builds the habit. When something keeps getting in the way, the app says what it noticed and suggests a change: a smaller size, a different moment. Nothing changes until you agree to it. Nothing to…from miniloops.app

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
