Minimalist CSS Framework

This is an update to my minimalist css framework, which I use for simple blog posts, sales pages, and now dashboards. This version adds a simple grid, among other things.

In plain words

Minimalist CSS Framework is a lightweight CSS toolkit designed for developers building simple blog posts, sales pages, and dashboards. This update introduces a basic grid system alongside other enhancements to the existing framework. It prioritizes simplicity and minimal code, making it suitable for projects that don't require complex styling infrastructure.

Rapidly build efficient sites with Neat , the minimalist css framework. Neat is about 3Kb and that's before it's minified and compressed. It's tiny, opinionated, and made to last. It's created by Joel Dare and heavily inspired by other minimalist sites like Hundred Rabbits and dozens of similar blogs. curl -O https://neat.joeldare.com/neat.css curl -O https://neat.joeldare.com/neat.html Then copy neat.html to index.html and make your changes. Today I fixed a couple little bugs and released a new version of my minimalist CSS framework. I built this to scratch my own itch and I've been using it for a few years as the starting point for most of my own websites. I noticed I hadn't shared this with HN for about 18 months (5 or 6 minor version changes) so I thought it might be okay to do that now. Edit: Err, I missed a post from 7 months ago. Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • A couple of years ago, I had an interesting idea. What if there was a marketplace where all the underlying tech was open-source? The order management system, the storefront, customer support, etc. The marketplace would simply connect to the seller’s infra instead of locking them in. If, for some reason, the seller is removed from the marketplace, their software stays with them and they can continue accepting orders directly. This model can be used to disrupt any marketplace from AirBNB to UberEats: building tech for home renters and restaurants and later, leveraging that to build a competing…
