Minotor – An open-source public transit routing library
Minotor is an open-source client side transit routing library for the web. It supports extended GTFS feeds parsing, complex routing queries, geographic and textual stops search. Unlike most transit planners out there, minotor can store all the transit data for a given day in memory on the client, allowing for fast runtime queries using only local data.

Minotor is an open-source transit routing library for the browser, nodejs servers and react-native apps. It supports extended GTFS feeds parsing, complex routing queries, geographic and textual stops search. Unlike most transit planners out there, minotor can store all the transit data for a given day in memory on the client, allowing for fast runtime queries using only local data. An example client-side transit router running in the browser with a web worker. It uses the full data from the Swiss GTFS feed for a day (Tuesday November 18th 2025) from opentransportdata.swiss , loaded in memory (thus works offline too). The backend is written in Rust. It parses public GTFS data from transit agencies and performs a simple heuristics-based BFS on the bus lines to calculate how long to reach all points in a city. Over the past week I built a project to let people self-host an entire maps stack so they don't have to send data to the big G. Right now it includes a base map, geocoder and directions server. Currently only bicycle directions are supported, and I'm only hosting tiles for Seattle because I'm unemployed and can't afford to host data for the whole planet. I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned.
