What it does
Minute records meetings, transcribes them live with on-device Whisper, labels who spoke, and writes summaries, decisions, and action items with a local LLM. No account, no cloud, no subscription — plain files on your Mac. Free and open source.
Minute is a fully offline meeting notetaker for macOS. It records, transcribes live with on-device Whisper, labels who spoke, and writes summaries with a local LLM. Free and open source.
Minute records your meetings, transcribes them as you speak, labels who said what, and writes the summary, decisions, and action items. The models run on your Mac — not somebody else's server. That's the whole list. Turn off Wi-Fi and everything still works. The code is open — you can check. On-device Whisper keeps pace with the conversation, and local diarization works out who said what. Minute can remember the voices you name and write "Sarah" into the next transcript by itself — with an Undo. Timestamps play the audio. Ask any meeting a question. Answers cite the second it was said, and clicking a citation jumps there. When Zoom, Teams, or a browser call uses your mic, a quiet pill…from mraza007.github.io

Trace – Offline Mac meeting transcripts you can flag mid-callJun 2026 · traceapp.info · ▲205I'm the developer of Trace, a non-intrusive, shortcut-driven Mac app that records and transcribes your meetings on-device. I know, another meeting transcription app. Please bear with me though, I'm confident that this is at least a little novel. I primarily built Trace for myself. I'd been using MacWhisper, but there was enough fiddling before each call that I'd forget to start it and walk out of an hour-long meeting with nothing written down. So the things I cared about most were that it's quick to activate and stays out of the way. You activate Trace by pressing a global shortcut…

Minute – Offline meeting notes on macOS with Whisper and llama.cppJul 2026 · github.com · ▲12Hello HN, I built Minute because I wanted searchable meeting notes without sending recordings or transcripts to a cloud service. It captures microphone and optional system audio, transcribes locally with Whisper, and generates summaries, decisions, and action items using a local LLM through llama.cpp. After the initial model download, everything runs on-device and in-process. There’s no account, server, or telemetry. The app is built with Tauri, Rust, React, and Metal acceleration. Notes are stored locally as plain text, JSON, and WAV files. I built the project end-to-end with Codex as a…

Clipto MCP▲655Hey HN, We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud. Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level): 1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
