Eight Mac apps in one. A keyboard shortcut each.
What it does
Eight Mac apps in one: find anything on your Mac, keep everything you copy, text shortcuts, screenshots, screen recording with a proper editor, window snapping, shrinking and converting any file, and help with your writing anywhere. Free to use, including two-minute recordings; $12 a month or $99 a year for the rest. Nothing leaves your Mac.

Find anything, keep everything you copy, take better screenshots, record your screen, tidy your windows and fix your writing — from your menu bar, with one shortcut each. Or try everything free for 7 days — no card, started from inside the app. All the little apps you would otherwise collect in your menu bar, in one — and they know about each other, so a text shortcut can paste what you copied an hour ago. Apps, files, settings, the tab you left open — and the answer to a sum, in the same box. Still there, still searchable — right down to the words printed inside a screenshot. Copy an image and the copy is already smaller. Or drag any file and a plate slides in, offering to shrink or…from getmochi.app

I'm not the author of the app (nor i have any connection with them, just a random user). iA Writer and Writer Pro aren't well suited for me as a developer. They feel quite "strange" to me. Mou is a good option (free too) but still missing some features. So far this, this editor is the most complete user-friendly. Hope it helps!

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
