I am a developer with a strong focus on design, interactivity and animation. Originally from New Delhi, I currently live in Toronto and am the Director, UI Architecture at Rangle.io. In my spare time, I like to experiment with creative coding, making triangles and other playful experiences for the web.

I began my career as a front-end developer, specializing in UI engineering, CSS, and animation. My experience with component-driven development and design systems led me to Developer Experience. Currently, I'm part of the DX team at Chromatic and contribute to Storybook . As an artist, I combine minimalist geometry with dynamic color systems and looping motion. Using web technologies—Canvas, SVG, WebGL & Shaders—I explore the interplay of structure and fluidity through code. Originally from New Delhi and now based in Toronto, I write about creative coding from a front-end developer'sfrom varun.ca

When I started my career and built my first design system, I was beyond excited. It took a lot of iterations, learning and 6 months of work to launch it internally. In the next job, I did it again, then at the following job, again… And no matter which company I worked for, 80% of the design system was the same. I’ve decided to work full-time on the design system I’ve always wanted, and today I’m launching and open-sourcing it. You can use it to build Next.js apps faster, and I’ve designed it in a way that it’s hard to go wrong with it: you can choose any settings, and you’ll end up with a…

Here's a project I've been working on for a little while now. Ripl is a JS library that provides a unified API for rendering shapes on both canvas and SVG interchangeably. Over the years I've used D3 extensively to create data visualisations so I figured I'd have a go at making my own version with a slightly more modern API and stricter TypeScript support. I am aware there are already libraries that can draw to multiple contexts interchangeably, but I've added a few little niceties to Ripl that (as far as I know) some other libraries don't have such as CSS-like query selectors, DOM-like…

  • Vaev – A browser engine built from scratch (It renders google.com)2025 · github.com · ▲233

We’ve been working on Vaev, a minimal web browser engine built from scratch. It supports HTML/XHTML, the CSS cascade, @page rules for pagination, and print-to-PDF rendering. It even handles calc(), var(), and percentage units—and yes, it renders Google.com (mostly). This is an experimental project focused on learning and exploration. Networking is basic (http:// and file:// only), and grid layouts aren’t supported yet, but we’re making progress fast. We’d love your thoughts and feedback.

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
