Newzly-phantom – Asynchronous type-safe Scala DSL for Cassandra

At newzly we use Cassandra for a variety of services. We loved Foursquare Rogue for MongoDB and we created a similar tool for Cassandra. Phantom is still in its early stages, but we look forward to your feedback and contributions!

Newzly-phantom – Asynchronous type-safe Scala DSL for Cassandra launched on February 24, 2014 with 16 votes, #550 of 1,100 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 12 years on.

In plain words

Phantom is a Scala domain-specific language for building type-safe, asynchronous queries against Cassandra databases. Designed for developers using Cassandra in production environments, it provides schema validation and reactive capabilities similar to Foursquare's Rogue tool for MongoDB. The project was created by Newzly to streamline database interactions while maintaining compile-time type safety.

Hi HN, I'm Dean, the non-technical co-founder of SchemafreeSQL. We released our beta version about a year ago. You can see the HN Post here https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30291592 Today I am pleased to announce our initial release of our hosted SFSQL offering. A major concern from the HN Beta feedback we received was our longevity. Being a hosted database solution I can see why. We took that to heart and re-engineered our offering. We de-risked it by minimizing the amount of infrastructure under our management, fly.io manages customer's dedicated SFSQL endpoints,…

Hi HN — we've built a testing framework for Supabase that spins up fast, isolated Postgres databases for each test case. It’s designed to make RLS policies easy to validate with real database state, without global test fixtures or mock auth. Features: - Instant isolated Postgres DBs per test - Automatic rollback after each test - RLS-native testing with `.setContext()` for auth simulation - Flexible seeding (SQL, CSV, JSON, JS) - Works with Jest, Mocha, and any async test runner - CI-friendly (runs cleanly in GitHub Actions) We also published example projects and a free set of tutorials:…

http://instantclick.io/ It seems the internet architecture won't bring us instant websites anytime soon. So here is a hack. I released this JS library last month (today is version 2.0 release, fixing v1.0's rough edges), it makes use of HTML5's pushState and preloading to make a website instant. It works like this: before clicking on a link, you'll hover over it. And there's a delay of 200-300 ms between these two events. InstantClick uses this delay to preload a page, when you click on a link it will display instantly in most case. (You can test on the website.) That's…
