What it does
Buy your place in the 2026 Grid — a time capsule of the internet before ai takes over the internet, launched 21 years after the Million Dollar Homepage for its anniversary and celebration it on august 26
1,000,000 pixels at $1 each. Buy your place in the 2026 Grid — a time capsule of the internet, launched 21 years after the Million Dollar Homepage.
1,000,000 pixels at $1 each — buy as little as a single pixel. Your place in it is permanent. AI writes the feeds now — the posts, the pictures, the pages. 2026 is the year it tips, and more and more of what the internet says from here on won't have a person behind it. The 2026 Grid is a time capsule sealed in exactly that moment: a million pixels claimed one dollar at a time by actual people — their logos, their projects, their names — the picture of who was here when it happened. In 2005, a million pixels became internet history because nobody had done it before. In 2026, yours will be history because a human still did it. Pick your spot, put your mark on it, and it's yours in the 2026…from onlyforadollar.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
