Pagecord – Effortless blogging from your inbox
Hey HN I’ve been at a loose end for the past few days so I decided to build a thing. I’m largely devoid of original ideas so I built a (micro-) blogging app with a slight twist: you run it using email. All you need is an email account. No new tools to wrangle. No password to forget. Compose in your favourite email editor and send to a secret address. Pagecord does the rest. It's great for bloggy long-form writing, but it’s maybe even more fun for micro-blogging your thoughts as you would a Twitter feed (you can subscribe to people/blogs using RSS). I figured nobody would pay so it's…
In plain words
Pagecord is a free blogging platform that lets users publish content entirely through email. Users compose posts in their preferred email editor and send them to a secret address, eliminating the need to learn new tools or manage passwords. The service supports both long-form blog writing and microblogging, with RSS subscription capabilities so readers can follow multiple blogs. It's designed for anyone who wants a simple way to share thoughts online without additional software or accounts.

It's great for bloggy long-form writing, but it’s maybe even more fun for micro-blogging your thoughts as you would a Twitter feed (you can subscribe to people/blogs using RSS). I figured nobody would pay so it's entirely free (I do accept donations ). I put together a short video for the home page which shows it in action. There’s an FAQ at https://pagecord.com/faq and you can see my actual feed at https://pagecord.com/pagecord. That’s it. Just a bit of fun, but maybe some people will enjoy it. Let me know what you think and have a lovely day! -- Olly

Hi HN, I built Eigendrum, a web tool that solves the 2D wave equation for arbitrary shapes so you can hear what they sound like as drums. How it works: * Solves -∇²u = λu using finite element analysis (Kφ = λMφ) on a triangle mesh. * Validated to <0.1% error against closed-form solutions for circles (Bessel zeros) and rectangles. * Sound model factors in strike location, Rayleigh damping, and mallet width. * Includes Kac drums I & II to demonstrate identical sound spectra from different geometries. * No frameworks, build steps, or dependencies. Repo and tests:…
