PhoneVitals

iPhone diagnostics your customer can verify by QR code

What it does

A repair shop tells you the battery is worn. You have no way to check. PhoneVitals reads the iPhone's own telemetry over USB - real cell health and cycle count, whether the screen, battery or camera is a non-genuine part, kernel panic logs decoded down to the failing board component - and prints a report your customer verifies by scanning a QR code. Windows, no jailbreak, nothing installed on the phone. First scan on each PC is free and complete. After that $0.40-0.99 a scan, no subscription.

iPhone diagnostic software for Windows. Read real battery health, cycle count and panic logs over USB and print a signed report your customer can verify. First scan free.

PhoneVitals talks to the iPhone's own chips over a USB cable — the battery gas gauge, the power IC's black box, kernel panic logs — and turns them into a signed report with a QR code. Your customer scans it and sees the same findings on this site. Every check reads the hardware's own counters — never a guess. Each verdict ships with the raw evidence, so your technician and your customer can both see why . Reads the gas gauge's private diary: the deepest voltage the cell ever hit, thermal abuse events, the internal-resistance curve at each charge level, and a real ESR measurement in milliohms. Reset cycle counters and reflashed gauges show up immediately. Serial pairing checked across board,…from phonevitals.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
