PrivacyProtect – Portable Secret improved: encrypt and store secrets

On the 40-day anniversary of the Portable Secret Show HN (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34083366), I introduce PrivacyProtect. Portable Secret's mprime1 has little time for upkeep, so, with his blessing, PrivacyProtect picks up where he left off and incorporates the following updates, - Improved security - SHA-512 and 2,100,000 iterations instead of SHA-1 and 1,000,000 - Generate IV and salt at encryption time to prevent reuse - Clear forms on submit - CLI: still WIP, but have a proof of concept working of using NodeJS's WebCrypto APIs to create the HTML files without…

What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

On the 40-day anniversary of the Portable Secret Show HN (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34083366), I introduce PrivacyProtect. Portable Secret's mprime1 has little time for upkeep, so, with his blessing, PrivacyProtect picks up where he left off and incorporates the following updates, - Improved security - SHA-512 and 2,100,000 iterations instead of SHA-1 and 1,000,000 - Generate IV and salt at encryption time to prevent reuse - Clear forms on submit - CLI: still WIP, but have a proof of concept working of using NodeJS's WebCrypto APIs to create the HTML files without the UI - Improved UI - Use type="password" for password fields - Show/hide password - Press enter to decrypt - Don't show password hint if not provided - Use form HTML element Play around with it, and let me know what you think! Let's Seal – Let's Encrypt for document signing, free and self-hostedJul 2026 · github.com · ▲94

TLDR, Let's Seal gives the finger to Adobe and every doc signing tool (docusign, google, etc) who pay to play with the Adobe Approved Trust List and then charge you for something that should be free. Currently even the person checking if a document/contract is sealed or code is authentic has to also be inside the same Adobe walled garden too. Verification, the part that should be free is the part everyone charges for. Thats the shape Let's Encrypt fixed for TLS, and I wanted the same thing for documents and files. The core idea therefore needed to go a bit beyond e signatures and i…

This works suprisingly well. Just give it instructions like "make it winter" or "remove the cars" and the photo is altered. Here are some examples of transformations it can make: Golden gate bridge: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/brycedrennan/imaginAIry/ma... I integrated this new InstructPix2Pix model into imaginAIry (python library) so it's easy to use for python developers.

The project is called QueryStorm. It uses Roslyn to offer C# (and VB.NET) support in Excel, as an alternative to VBA. I've posted about it before, but a lot has changed since then so figured I'd share an update. The current version includes a host of new features, namely a C# debugger, support for NuGet packages, and the ability to publish Excel extensions to an "AppStore" (which is essentially a NuGet repository). The AppStore can be used by anyone with the (free) runtime component. Another great addition is the community license, which is a free license for individuals and small companies…

Hey HN! Some more info: I’m an NHS doctor and the founder of Pi-A (https://www.pi-a.io) which developed Lungy (https://www.lungy.app). Lungy is an app (iOS only for now) that responds to breathing in real-time and was designed to make breathing exercises more engaging and beneficial to do. It hopefully has many aspects of interest to the HN community – real-time fluid, cloth and soft body sims running on the phone’s GPU. My background is as a junior surgical trainee and I started building Lungy in 2020 during the first COVID lockdown in London. During COVID, there were…
