In plain words
This is a lightweight Python library containing approximately 250 lines of code that implements a micro event loop. It is designed for developers who need event-driven programming capabilities without the complexity of larger frameworks. The library is hosted on GitHub Gist and launched in February 2025, offering a minimal implementation suitable for projects requiring basic event handling and asynchronous operations in Python.

Bringing multithreading to Python's async event loop2024 · github.com · ▲82This project explores the integration of multithreading into the asyncio event loop in Python. While this was initially built with enhancing CPU utilization for FastAPI servers in mind, the approach can be used with more general async programs too. If you’re interested in diving deeper into the details, I’ve written a blog post about it here: https://www.neilbotelho.com/blog/multithreaded-async.html

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I was at FB/Meta from late 2013 to early 2023, mostly working in the compiler/runtime spaces. I got hit in the spring 2023 layoff wave. I immediately started making games in my newfound free time (a lifelong interest, and I even worked in AA(A?) back ca. ~2000), and in October 2023 I stumbled upon the idea of a roguelike pachinko/plinko game inspired by Luck Be A Landlord. Things snowballed quickly, I started talking to publishers, then worked like crazy through all of 2024, almost the hardest I've ever worked in my career, and launched the game in December 2024. It's sold…

i wanted to change the habit of reaching for my phone in the morning and doomscrolling away an hour so i built an app to help me. now i have to literally touch grass before accessing my most distracting apps the app is built in swiftui, uses the screen time apis provided by apple and google vision to recognise grass or not i'd love to get your thoughts on the concept.
